ITS NEARING CHRISTMAS

l Can't believe another year has zipped past and one day to the end of term.   We have had an interesting year,   Although we have lost some members  and it would be good of have a few new faces in the group we are enjoying exploring new ideas and techniques.  Each student/member has taken on individual tasks to expand further in the new year.   South Mundham Hall is close to Chichester, and now has wifi, a projector and screen, which makes my life easy for presentations and information seeking.

Currently the group are working with Zentangle designs they have produced to create cushions as a project.  In this they are expanding different ways of creating the design and texture.

I can't believe we had such a lovely day, brilliant sunshine, warm, primroses, and birds singing.  After un unpleasant weekend and week prior, it was gorgeous.  We  had coffee and get together in the craft coffee shop, and then went our different ways, armed with sketchbooks and cameras.  I must admit to taking more photos than sketches.  The aim to look at shape rather than overall views.  I soon realised I was looking at line, as the uprights on the supports of the boathouse, and walkway drew my eye.   Boats eventually entered my vision, so drew a few of those too.  Inside the church the inside of the door, and an angel on a pew were added to my collection.  I photographed the grave of the daughter of King Canute, and the Raven drew my eye, so will do a bit of research there too.

I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did, and lunch was brilliant, although next time when it is summer we shall sit on the veranda,

FRIDAY 1 APRIL

Have had a pleasant day today, drove up over Goodwood to visit Textile Space, at Charlton Barns to view their Foundation students work.  The Barns are open over the weekend, so if you get the opportunity have a look.  Debs teaches this foundation course as a 6 month full time course, which includes techniques and 4 projects.  It was interesting, as it also includes fashion as a choice.

Whilst there I discovered that Debs has a thermofax machine, which enables the making of thermofax stencils.  Which is pretty handy as I thought I might include this technique next term.  I shall be doing a one to one with her to learn how to use the machine, which means we can have our screens for a much lower price than sending them away to be done.  Just means I have to do it.  No probs.

Tried to get in the pub for lunch,  it was packed, ended up in Singleton, where a very noisy group were reminiscing about their past work.

On the way back I saw a pair of Kites over the valley, they are amazing.  I didn't realise they had moved so far south.
